Tanzania dictatorship arrests young activist Deusdedith Soka over upcoming nationwide demonstrations

18th January, 2024 — Troubled Samia Suluhu Hassan regime, after all the lies and fake reformist disposition aimed solely at hoodwinking donors and the international community, is in shock and panic after opposition leader Freeman Mbowe (CHADEMA) announced peaceful nationwide demonstrations, beginning with Dar es salaam on January 24th, 2024, to pressure the Government to consider the opinions of stakeholders regarding contentious election issues.

Read the article Tanzania’s Opposition to stage protest against austerity, looming tyranny.

In retaliation, the Tanzania authorities arbitrarily arrested a number of youths in Arusha for appearing in a social media circulated video celebrating the upcoming demonstrations. They’ve since been released unconditionally, but today, Deusdedith Soka, a prominent young activist in Dar es salaam, has been arrested.

We demand the immediate release of this young man, and strongly condemn the Tanzanian government for its continuous human rights violations, and call on the international community to suspend its financial support of this inept and highly corrupt dictatorial regime.
