#BoycottTanzaniaTourism to Curtail the Genocide Against Ngorongoro’s Maasai

24 August 2024 — On the heels of rampant abductions (check out the hashtag #FreeDeusdedithSoka), Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan has been committing genocide against the Maasai since she ascended to power in 2021.
She’s moved steadily with her illegal assault on the indigenous Maasai in the Ngorongoro.
Why the land grabbing?
President Hassan has audaciously sold Maasai land to the Dubai Royal Family, the Maktoums. It is rather ironic that a president, by her position, is meant to be the chief comforter, instead, she causes grief and suffering to over a hundred thousand people who’ve been the custodians of the Ngorongoro long before East Africa was colonized.
In the early hours of Aug 18, thousands of Indigenous Maasai people blocked the road to one of Tanzania’s biggest tourist attractions, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), in protest against the forced eviction from their ancestral land and denial of basic rights, 15 individuals were arrested. Why Boycott Tanzania Tourism?
Responsible travelers can sometimes face an ethical dilemma when considering whether or not to visit a certain destination, particularly those with poor human rights records. The Tanzanian dictatorship has proved time and time again, that human rights are not their concern, they’ve sold the land of the Maasai to so-called foreign investors, and they’re committing crimes against humanity. Genocide.
We ask the international community, and travel suppliers to boycott Tanzania tourism to curtail the genocide against the Maasai in Ngorongoro.
Your tourism dollars are funding a regime that is committing gross human rights violations and crimes against humanity, meanwhile, the Tanzanian government tirelessly tries to hoodwink the world with depraved, shameless propaganda.
You can make a difference when you #BoycottTanzaniaTourism.
